On Christmas Eve a thud resounded out in the hallway and an expected package arrived at an unexpected time of the morning. As an early Christmas present you can’t beat a book, and one by blog favourite Nils-Johan is always a joy to receive.
An unanticipated addition to the Wind series of children’s books, I look forward to indulging in this one, as I’ve loved every other book in the collection and have been enchanted by the qualities and themes of each story.
Whichever way the wind may blow this year, one constant is that the reading will continue across many genres, and with a return to the Philippines on the cards, a sun tan will also be a predictable outcome. I hope your year will be a good one.
I haven’t heard of the author yet except in your blog. How’s Crissy?

Crissy and Ameila are under the weather but getting better. Nils-Johan’s books are always a good read. I recommend them!

A sun tan might suit you well. And I just replied to your email so I now know that you are yet in the UK. Children’s books are such sweet pleasures of life. I can never get over Ruskin Bond or R K Narayan stories. I hope to catch with many many good books and reviews since your resolution promises me as much.

Well, Happy New Year to you and Crissy and Amelia, and your folks as well. I’m sorry to hear they’re not well, but often sniffles and snorts get at people this time of year. I got a delivery of yarn one day after Christmas, so it was good for me too. Have a great one!

Nice timing, nothing like something else to unwrap after everyone else has ceased to do so. I really can’t be doing with the sniffles this year, its bad enough not getting much sleep but to have even more disturbed nights is…mildly annoying to take the polite route.

I read East of the East Wind, North of the North Wind, and the others to my grandsons when they were young. Delightful books and author. In fact, I think you were the one that introduced me to the author and his books.

If it was me that introduced you then I am beyond happy to know that I could help share these wonderful stories. A partial spoiler alert because I haven’t had time to write the review yet but this new entry to the series lives up to the high standard set by its predecessors.

Something about books that you don’t do + volunteering = reading to children!
Just a thought!

That’s a good idea, I like that. I need to build up my reading out loud skills and also my repertoire of funny voices. I shall see what I can do and let you know my progress.

I’m sorry to hear Crissy and Amelia are under the weather. I’m just climbing out from under the worst case of the flu I’ve ever experienced. Wishing you all a healthier new year. What a great gift!

We’ve all been down with something this past week but there are signs of progress now. I have a lot of things to catch up with on the blog. I’ve been adding notes but have yet to hit the year running with consistency. Free books make me happy, I hope to see some more heading my way this year but if not, there’s plenty more delights I already have and am excited to read and share.

Cheers mate. Being back in the UK leached all the colour from my skin so a sun tan will be one of the things I achieve this year…should have stuck that down as a resolution, that way I would achieve at least one!

Nothing better than an early Christmas present that’s book-shaped! Hope you are all feeling better now. Happy new year to you all!

We are getting there now, it’s been a slow road. I am excited to review it, although peace and quiet in which to order my thoughts is quite challenging at the moment. Happy New Year to you too.

At the time, the sleepless nights and inability to do anything that isn’t baby related seems never-ending. It does come to an end and looking back you’ll be glad that you took part in this part of Amelia’s development. Any time now, she will be starting to try to sit and stand and talk and walk and it gets much more interesting! Teething is always a challenging time for all but I’m sure you’ll cope. Best of luck!

She was trying to stand up in the womb, she loves to be upright. Amelia is getting better, paying attention to thing and sleeping through the night with only a couple of waking sessions. It’ll all go out the window when we move continent again but we can enjoy it for the moment.
