It’s a little early, but I wanted to reach out to all of the book lovers and authors who’d like to join me during the month of March to get quality books into the hands of deserving kids.
Last year, I started the initiative, “MARCHing Books to Kids” to raise awareness and collect books for children of incarcerated parents. I was delighted to have authors and lit lovers from all over the world support this cause. In fact, we collected 348 books from generous people in 11 different states and 4 countries! I hope this year will be just as great! The feedback from the participating families was incredible. They were especially touched that authors signed books for their children. That was a new experience for most of the families.

You have your finger on the World of Reading’s pulse–and it’s heart beats for everyone, for it’s nice to see such a worthwhile charity operating to make books available to those who otherwise might not have them.

Spreading book love is always a pleasure but when it is for a (more than usual) good cause then I am all for it. I constantly wonder where some of my books have gone, perhaps I gave them away to good homes, I can’t complain as long as they made somebody happy.

That’s the problem with the blogging world, it’s constantly updated and there is no time to go back pick up on all the posts already gone. I am glad you are getting back into the groove. I haven’t visited any sites since Sunday and probably won’t until Saturday at best. Fortunately we are all in the same boat so I share your pain.

We do get wrapped up in our own lives and it is a jolt to realise how good we have it and as books play such a huge part on our lives, I knew this would resonate with people, especially as they remember their own childhood book memories.

Hard to believe–two thirds of low income families in US do not own any books. Pretty sad. I’d never have guessed that. I know a lot of low income families and they all have books. Very good cause, Ste J. Hope you’ve been doing well. 🙂

Hello my friend, I have been doing very well of late, except for posting which has gone quiet for some reason. I hope you are also well? I find it sad that there are families that don’t have books, see no need for them or have interest in them, yet everybody seems to own a TV and have that as the focal point of their living room.
