~Walking in the Rain; Observations
Walking through that closed, temporarily satiated city
light bleeds through the syrupy air before pooling together, mixing colours in the shimmering liquid display of luminescence
multi storey car parks and cheap neon signs become things of beauty in the rain, the strange distortion of air making things clear to the watcher
yet pleasingly fuzzy around the edges, reminiscent of daguerreotype photos and just as timeless. The tram lines are silent as the scent of autumn whispers through the trees bordering the graveyard
It greets me unmolested by traffic fumes
the calm of the pristine air for the untried day yet to be experienced in this magical way
for most it will not be.It’s my own world, the rhythmic lull of the rain, cleansing the ground is my soundtrack home
those wrapped up in bed, lulled to sleep by its romantic nature without knowing this experience unique and enigmatically illusory
my Aloneness in this world only magnified by the possibility of another spectral traveller in the distance, at once both real and imagined
perhaps I am that ghost, suddenly the nature existence is something less tangible.
Nice! The picture and text go together very well.

I spent longer looking for a picture than I did writing the words.

Gorgeous Ste, conjures up all the things I love about rain – you really should post more writing like this, you have a gift for it!

After I publish a poem, I always want to write more but for some reason I find it hard to be inspired to words. It is a rare beast but maybe it works well as a tease for my wonderful regular readers. Rain is really underrated in my opinion.

Thank you, I finally got around to dabbling again after a long uninspired period. Finishing work had added to my good mood of course!

A solitary walk in the rain, inviting everything that comes along, as nature unfolds around us, is one the rarest joys of life.
This was a refreshing read, J.
How’ve you been?

I’ve been okay, doing the usual as I do! It is a wonderful thing, when you get that right amount of rain to enjoy without being deluged. Glad you liked it.

I like getting drenched at times, as I can then go and write some.

Strangely, I thought chapeau meant rabbit, shows how long it is since I did French but after checking it through DuckDuckGo I was happy to find that the word I was looking for was lapin. I am glad you like it, I think I have my next poem in mind already, which for me is positively prolific haha.

Lovely! Which city’s tramlines were you inspired by?

Thank you! Nottingham is the city I live in and I follow the tram lines home, well, I walk beside them should I say. It’s a peaceful city which is nice, although now the students are back at Uni, a little less so.

Pesky students, with their education and thoughts! Sounds lovely though

I’m all for educational thoughts, just not the random parties that go on until all hours. How we with a day job suffer!

I love a walk in nature, particularly after the rain, when smells and sights are intensified. I hope you do more of this type of writing Ste J. I really enjoyed this. Hope you are well.

Thank you my friend, I usually have to be in the mood and my poetry moods are usually few and far between but I want to do better. I think I have an idea for another one though, now you come to mention it.
I am very well at the moment, things are moving in interesting directions and that makes me happy. How are you?

I am well. We have just returned home from our summer travels and are settling in and beginning to work on our travels for next year. We are thinking we are going to be heading to Spain and Portugal next year. Any idea if travel is on the horizon for you?

I have some travel ideas which are slowly forming at the moment, nothing solid as dates as of yet though. I’m sorry I haven’t been around for a bit. My time is focussed in other areas at the moment, I need to get a proper schedule with my writing though.

No problem Ste J. I haven’t been around as much as I would like either. Look forward to hearing more about your travel plans.

You know my friend, I was thinking about my lack of photos that I have sent you of late. I had my eye on a mural on the local theatre but they are doing building work so I will have to wait until that is done now. Congrats on your 1000th post, I will be over in a day or two to check out what you have been doing!

Beautiful words and a beautiful scenery that you created in my mind through these words. I was feeling quite cold before reading this and now I think I took your words quite seriously that I’m having little shivers every now and then. Haha.

Thank you very much! My glasses were all blurry that night, as I struggled to keep all the words in my head and keep my feet dry.
