Eye Believe That!

I saw this in the newsagents…and this in no way a filler post until I get around to writing another review.

The cover is always witty, when one of the royals, probably Kate had the baby and all the media were treating it like big news, Private Eye had a blank cover with ‘woman has baby’ on it.

Oh, I love that, too! I’ve never understood why so many people put such importance on these things. I couldn’t care less about what the “royals” are doing, or most celebrities, for that matter. Of course, give me a humble author or illustrator and I’m interested 🙂 And, of course, people doing things of true value!

An author or illustrator, you mean somebody who creates rather than stars in reality TV or a royal that has a baby…surely not! All the clickbait and misleading headlines that are bandied around and still people keep reading them time after time. I’m with you, I would much rather know what real people are doing, those that create things that connect with people.

Hi, Ste J. Here’s the thing: Trump has all sorts of bad friends who aren’t just laughing at him like so many of us, and although I think he’s laughable, I find myself recollecting that historically speaking, a lot of people made fun of Hitler, too, and look what he did! Things have already become very, very reactionary in the U. S., and it’s really not good. We need to keep a sense of proportion, though, and to that end, I supply you with this link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ELD2AwFN9Nc
You’ll find it a hoot and a holler!

I hadn’t seen that video, I will make sure more people see it now, fantastic. On a serious note though, at least we have the hindsight provided by Hitler, although as a race we do seem to favour committing the same mistakes…

From what I read, he is seemingly like a child, I hope that soon this serious insanity is realised. I can understand to a certain extent the reason that people voted to him although I don’t agree with them but taking a step back, you really had a poor choice this time. In four years time, he won’t be there for sure.

According to Trump, he’s already in for 8 years. He’s already bypassed the next election ’cause he’s so wonderful, every person would want him in above any other person on the planet. I truly can’t stomach anything about the man.

He must have had a word with Putin about the next batch of electoral results when he rang him.

Very funny 🙂 Actually, it was the thing that stuck out when I read this dumb comment he made. In his mind it’s eight years already:

“You know, I’m, like, a smart person. I don’t have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years. Could be eight years — but eight years. I don’t need that,” Trump said. “But I do say, ‘If something should change, let us know.’”

With the chaos he is already creating, he may not even last the year!

It’s hard to know how this is going to play out, but there are quite a few viable scenarios! My dad thinks someone’ll take him out, but I’m hoping, like Voldemort, he’ll cause his own demise—political or otherwise!

The conspiracy theorists will have a field day if that happens, although he is probably a liability to himself as you say. I thought he may have mustered up some dignity by now but it seems like its the same old Trump man child.

Ste J, there are some people here who somehow believe he’s capable of change in his thinking, but that’s never going to happen. This man has been a jackass in so many ways his entire life. I never could stomach him for all the obvious reasons, from way back when he was pulling his nonsense even before he was with Ivana. His character is what it is, and now with even more power, he will be worse, not better. I’m wondering how long it will take before the reality of his loss of freedom sets in. He’s not free to come and go as he pleases, and he won’t be able to go peeking into “Miss Universe” changing rooms and the like either, though I put nothing past him. He is behaving exactly as I expected. God only knows the damage he’s going to cause—worldwide—in the long run. He’s already done so much from the campaign right on through. We can only imagine…and witness… 😦

People that think he can change are at best naive. It is amazing to think back to when it was all a bit of a laugh as he never has a chance of getting in. Reality sets in and instead of making the best of it, he should be shut down at every opportunity by every citizen wherever possible.

Yep, I really couldn’t believe he was running, but when he actually won the nomination, I was in disbelief, wondering how that could possibly happen, but actually winning the election is beyond comprehension. What’s even more horrible is that he actually lost the popular vote by nearly 3,000,000 votes. It’s pathetic, to say the least. Damn electoral vote. I’ve always hated it.

Yes, and although he seems to think he’s above anything and anyone, he better have the best Secret Service protecting him ’cause what he’s doing has a very strong chance of triggering (pun was unintended!) someone to want to put an end to the insanity. My father keeps insisting someone will do it. I think if anyone could spark such hatred, it’s Trump. I don’t wish it on the man, but I know I wouldn’t mourn, for sure.

There’s also (floating around in the Internet ether somewhere) a hysterically funny “rant” from a pretended or actual British newscaster who is “covering” the Inauguration. Unfortunately, I didn’t see it in a form I can resend, because my brother sent it to me as something I had either to download a special way (which I am very far from understanding) or to get on OneDrive, which is a Microsoft thingy, I think. But you may be able to Google it by using key words. It’s my second favorite Trump funny bit.

Just this week I started seeing a new doctor (I’ve been “shopping”) and when she found out I illustrate, she told me she’s working on a book of Trump limericks. She told me one and it was PERfect! It involved a horse’s ass 😉

Good old Private Eye! I don’t think they’ll be upsetting so many people as usual with this cover. I just daren’t think what he’ll do and say next!

In times of bad news, Private Eye always comes up with a corker or five, or sometimes so near the knuckle that it has to be appreciated. I could share most covers but have been waiting for something that everybody can appreciate so it was no contest that it was this one.

Private Eye, always hits the spot. They had a bumper year last year with Brexit and this year with Trump will give them more material than they know what to do with.
