Sensory Pleasures

04 Aug

Firstly, some music to set the tone, or at least give you an aural representation of how my mood is right now.  It’s all a bit dreamy but I blame that on the heat and also because we all live in The Matrix and so forth. That and my lack of blogging of late, which has been fairly traumatic in terms of pining away and such things that one tends to do when away from the thing that has consumed many hours of your life, building up.

Before I took my mini break I made a round of many fine blogs that had been updated recently, it is really hard to keep up with everybody as you guys all know.  Nevertheless armed with some great music playing in the background and a ridiculous amount of heat, as well as that glorious cut grass smell that always reminds of Summers long past, I spent a good three hours thoroughly engrossed in some exceptional writing and being rather happy knowing it.

It’s easy to say that people write really well but with a combination of brilliant writers bringing through such images and memories and feelings etc, it really was a fantastic jaunt and I don’t mind admitting I was a bit envious of some of the writing that goes on around me, although it does spur me on to beat what I consider to be my best words.  The mixture of music, ideas and sentences was a bit exhilarating and made me want to write like some sort of excitable antelope…who can also write and has a lot to say, most probably (if I am forced to speculate) that an anagram of antelope is ‘toe plate’ amongst other things.

One good thing about being away though, apart from taking the pressure off of my posts for a little while and getting to read and watch lots of decent stuff, has made me feel more focused and given me a sense of direction for what I want to do when writing.  I will admit that I didn’t actually do much in the way of composing my words, apart from random ideas that is.  I ended up creating even more unfinished drafts and completed only one full post, other than this one.  In terms of actual words it was a bit of a failure but on the bright side, it did allow me to read a decisive amount of a particularly layered and weighty history book so that balances it all out.

Suffice to say, I missed you all – naturally –  and have come back all refreshed with lots of ideas and some hearty inspiration taken from just about everywhere, including my own shoes, which I examined minutely on a bus because they (along with the rest of me) were it was stuck in traffic.  I love a bit of jaunt, me.

If the world traded on that currency life would be so much more preferable as well and we would be rich, which would be nice.

I’m glad you had time to reflect, enjoy yourself and reassess your writings. Everyone’s got their peculiar way of bringing out stuff, you, you do it well. Only you, can do you, if you know what I mean by that! 🙂 It’s good you’re back old friend.

    Bring it on!!!

It’s been a nice break, shorter than I usually do as well but it has given me more ideas of awesome stuff to get going on with. I like being unique, or ‘not all there’ as I am sure I apply to that category hehe. It’s great to be back, now I have to tour all the blogs to say hi, that’s the rest of my day sorted out then!

You should’ve known better than to wear shoes–how did you ever expect your antelopean “toe plate” not to get in the way? My advice is to look for custom-made orthotics, right away!

That is a very good point, I have had a distrust of these shoes for a while, I think they are ‘helping’ me avoid interesting outdoor things to blog about as nothing has happened to me for a bit and so my sentient shoes will have to go in favour of something more excitement orientated.

Have you ever seen those “toe shoes” that were trendy a while back, and looked like a cross between toe socks and those rubber shoes kids like to wear, I can’t recall their names, also trendy? Maybe you could encourage that company to make you a special pair, and you could be their spokesperson for “toe plate trendies?”

I do remember them, much as I have tried to forget them, lol.I like that ideas though go into partnership and start doing vlogs where they always subtly appear somewhere…although that would ruin my image as a cool kid with intellectual leanings and good hair and turn me into a corporate whore and I haven’t got the thighs for that.

“Crocs,” that’s the name of those infernal kids’ shoes that cause all sorts of athletes’ foot and other kinds of rot that I can’t talk my little nephew out of wearing! But you know, in order to be a corporate whore with some style, if you don’t have the thighs for it, you can always have the ties for it, and that helps (though ties and crocs together does sound a bit weird).

I may just stick to the Tramp Chic style that I have been cultivating for a while, it certainly gets me noticed.

Ah, if you were away that explains why you might have missed your Spotlight I recently posted. Or maybe you were unhappy with it and are sparing me scathing commentary (?) anyway, it received quite a few hits and I hope your traffic reflects this.

Welcome back. Having time away can make a world of difference. I had three weeks off last year about this time, and it allowed me to get my thoughts together, then come back much refreshed. However, I did find that coming back, I have never managed to keep up like I did beforehand.

Thank you, it’s nice to be back. I remember your break last year now that you mention it, crikey time flies! You had an epic amount of posts to read and write and bloggers to visit, I am impressed at the amount you sustain though, it is beyond impressive.

Lovely to read your words once again; the blogosophere isn’t the same without you. It’s great that you were able to work on some drafts of new creative projects – I find it difficult to write in the summer months … I seem to need the cold and grey to focus my brain, haha.

It does bring on the lethargy, all this heat, it is very unnatural to be this hot. I had some absolutely mad ideas but it turns out that the scratch and sniff app hasn’t been invented for WordPress yet which is disappointing so that is a dent and a half. It feels nice to be missed and good to be back!

I am back and I also have a lot of front as well, with a side of sides and those aforementioned shoes! You’d be the super sleuth uncovering all those questionable secrets and such…there would have to be a secret passage as well and possibly some clues on a bit of old parchment, I always like that sense of drama.

I am like a child in many ways and it does sound quite inviting to roll down hills giggling maniacally. I don’t always know where I am going but I do enjoy the journey anyway as it usually involves food and plenty of naps.

Love the musical selection you shared to enhance your words… It is wonderful to have you back and being your whimsical self with your clever and charismatic ways. There are indeed a plethora of most excellent writers about our WP-ville. I’m well happy you were able to have a nice rejuvenating break with some reading as well. Your words of writing more focused stood out and intrigues me…I shall remain anticipatious to see what you share with us next…with all your varying ways of mixing up your posts to keep us on our toes(!). Just remember…there is no spoon…

A bit of Twin Peaks never goes amiss, it reminds you all of my occasional whimsy. There is no spoon indeed, which is also a line from the cheap flick Dog Soldiers which is an average watch. it seems like I, along with your good self will be slowly feeding out new ideas and plans so I shall keep some ideas back to save as a treat for you!

I apologize for my tardy reply to this…esp since you now seem to be burning up your site with reviews…but I find you passion for reading and writing in blogland inspiring! I oft feel guilty when you visit my blog and comment because it is always so well put and I am never up on visiting in kind. Please know, it is never because your site is not worthy of a read, but because I am a selfish blogger (post first, read later) boo! Keep the passion, keep creating words ~ a

it is a fine balance to blog and check out everybody else’s work. I have the luxury of time at the moment so am able to do it but things will change. Don’t feel guilty, I am happy to have you pop by when you are able and give me a wave. I always think replying to and writing comments are my weakest area concerning blogging but as long as I can inspire you with my reviews and such then I am happy to continue working and at it and keep up visiting with the visiting.
