All in the Mind

20 Jun

Just a quick one today, here is an awesome composition, that describes perfectly how I am feeling:

So your challenge, if you choose to accept it is, can anyone put it into words for me just what this feeling is? It would be greatly appreciated to have the words at hand….

    Cloudy?
    Flying high?
    Lost in time?
    Jet lagged (still)?
    Like Superman?
Conductor of your own life’s orchestra?

Jet lagged, lol, that’s a good one. High is a good one also, although I hasten to add not in a narcotic way. Great answers, especially the last one…it is strange to not know ones own feelings. This helps me define them though.

I’d not heard this piece. I’ve not seen Somewhere In Time for a long while either.

I keep meaning to watch it myself. A mass blogger film-a-thon sounds like a plan!

I keep buying films and adding them to my “to watch list”. Bit like books. 😦

Yes. After I finish the book I am reading now, I have a choice what to go for next (I think)

To me, this particular Rachmaninoff Rhapsody has always evoked sadness and a sense of longing. Like remembering something beautiful that happened and knowing it will never happen again. It’s like when I hear Tchaikovsky’s Piano concerto #1 in B flat minor. I’m always reminded of my Dad who died when I was 14. He loved that piece, I can still see him with tears in his eyes as he listened to it.

It’s always fascinating to hear how people interpret the same piece of music, who and what they associate with it. A sense of longing is a nice phrase for it, there is something almost magisterial about its rising strings as well I think. Big hugs for you and you always be reminded of the good thoughts when listening to Tchaikovsky.

A love you lost, and you’re missing her, and you want to go back in time, experience it again, hoping it will be forever. * misty eyed*

You always have such evocative words Ren. I think you are partly right to experience that again would be a dream, nay maybe a reality for I like to be positive in my thoughts.

nostalgic, peaceful, dreamy… that’s what the piece evokes for me anyway! Quite lovely in a sort of melancholic way.

Ah melancholy, my favourite feeling, well that happy kind, you know what I mean…it is strange so far all the words seem to be right, yet not the one that encapsulates them all. They are all great words though. I do have a smile on my slightly lopsided face.

Up lighting works as well I think! What a good word, it’s almost ethereal. Good words all and probably a great approximation of my mood. You are insightful as ever my friend.

You are very perceptive, all of the above and more. It is one heck of a track to get lost in, at any rate.
