The Final Front Cover

So after days of packing I am finally halfway through boxing up my book collection and what a journey that has been. I’ve found some right treats that I had forgotten about, such as: The Theory of the Novel, The Seven Basic Plots: Why We Tell Stories, Parzival, The Moon: A Biography and The Communist Manifesto, to name but a few of the unearthed treasures and I think I saw some science and philosophy books hanging around too…

So the above picture is not the best example of The Dust, oh the dust! that has been shed from those book covers is monumental, but you get the picture by way of metaphor.  Of course the vastness of space (empty book shelves) and the awe-inspiring amount of words accumulated by me (if you look at them from far away they make look like distant stars if you pretend, the space dust (dust) and the planet orbiting the sun being the ultimate metaphor for moving house but then again that was, I’m sure, self explanatory.

The space picture is in no way a blatant attempt to shoe horn a nice picture of ‘out there’ in here, any chance I get. I may gather the dust, the real dust not the metaphor, into a big pile and take a photo of it, as I’m sure its something you guys would be interested in, maybe.

So the move is due on Sunday and then I am hoping to get on here every two or three days to continue blogging whilst I sort out the internet at the new place, It has been really annoying not to be coming on here more regularly recently to check out your stuff, as I think I said in the last dim and distant post.  So once again I shall catch you guys another day, by which I mean tomorrow when I shall get to all your blogs and comment and such like. I will most likely also have found more awesome books that I forgot I owned and will probably packed the boring stuff like clothes and mugs, I like mugs.  So until then my good friends take care of yourselves and make sure that no one tries to steal your shoes.

        1. A good idea, I would put it on the list of things to do, but I’m trying to lose that so I will put it on the new fangled list of fun things to do. Which is entirely different and more streamlined.

    1. The plan is to put bookcases up in front of all the walls so I don’t have to decorate, cunning and lazy at the same time. I like to multi task.

  1. I don’t see any reason you shouldn’t shoe-horn in an interesting photo. It’s a great photo. As for your move, good luck, get it done.

    1. All packed and ready to roll, In fact I did all the Christmas wrapping and a blog post as well. This is possibly my most productive day since I watched all seven Police Academy films back to back.

    1. Apparently if your shoes squeak it means you stole them, lol. Not sure who started that but I like to think that everyone steals everyone elses shoes. As long as I don’t get a pair of heels i shall be happy.

  2. What wonderful treasures you have unearthed (quite literarily, it seems from all the dust, hahaha!). I haven’t read The Theory of the Novel in years but you’ve got me wondering where mine is. I remember mine having a green cover… hmm, now where it it? I think I may have some digging of my own to do 🙂

    Have a good move!

    1. Yes dig and let me know what you find so I can add them to my wishlist, I think my Theory of the Novel was either bought or stolen (not by me, I hasten to add) from Oxford university and has a green cover too. I shall explore it at the new place when I re-find it. That will be the main challenge then.

    1. After five days packing I still have a ton that can’t go with me, including one about explorers on South America Simon Schama’s A History of Britain and various other stuff including my Pern collection that I haven’t caught up on in years. I’m exhausted already and I have to move them all tpo the new place tomorrow. Followed quickly by a nap.

        1. Would you believe it is 12:27 and it is complete! Well half complete as i don’t have the room to stick anymore boxes of books anywhere until I get some on the shelves. I don’t mess around when it comes to stress.

  3. Oh what a treasure! Whenever I try to fix my things, I always ended up consuming most of the time looking, reading, and reminiscing about the memories in those items. I will be like, “Oh, this! He gave it when…” At the end of the day, I’ll be lucky to fix half of them.

Oh dear. No one steals Monica’s shoes. That would be capital offense. 🙂

    1. No one steals your shoes? Challenge accepted!

This time I went the opposite way of packing without paying to much interest and then spending ages unpacking. It could well be months knowing me, it doesn’t help that birthday and Christmas books will keep me interested for a good while too.

      1. Oh no you don’t! I’m an OC and neat freak, I’ll declare WWIII if I can’t find my things. 🙂

Your way is also interesting. I can spend a long time unpacking, but I’m sure packing will take longer hours (days?).

        Merry Christmas!
